The automated worldwide electronic broker Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR), which was granted an SFC licence, is the first securities broker to permit retail clients to trade cryptocurrencies in Hong Kong.

Investors who meet the eligibility requirements of Interactive Brokers Hong Kong can trade cryptocurrencies and manage their portfolios using a single, unified interface. In addition to trading cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), clients can trade stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, event contracts, cryptocurrency futures, and futures options from a single account and interface. Centralised cash management is convenient for clients.

With a USD 2.25 minimum order value, no additional spreads or markups, and cheap commissions of approximately 0.20% to 0.30% of trade value, depending on monthly volume, Interactive Brokers Hong Kong offers cryptocurrency trading powered by OSL Digital Securities.

In partnership with OSL Digital Securities, the first digital asset trading platform in Hong Kong to have an SFC licence, Interactive Brokers began offering bitcoin trading in the city. On February 14, 2023, Interactive Brokers previously opened up cryptocurrency trading to qualified Professional Investor clients of Interactive Brokers Hong Kong.
